Hello! I’m Youhjung

I share about art therapy and create space for people to express themselves.

I have always loved art and I think it’s because I didn’t know how to express everything in words when I was little, and art was an outlet for my thoughts and feelings.
That’s the reason I got into art therapy and I wanted to share what I learned about art therapy through my own inner work and my work with others. If you want to learn more about what art therapy is all about and how it works, listen to my podcast and follow me on Instagram. If you want to experience what it’s like to create art in a whole new way and find new meaning and transformation in your life, see my services below.

If you wanted the nitty-gritty, formal background, here it is:

I am a Registered Art Therapist (ATR), coach, artist, and speaker based in the Maryland/D.C. area and previously Austin, TX. I received a BA in Psychology and BA in Studio Art from University of Texas at Austin as well as a Master’s in Art Therapy from School of Visual Arts. My art therapy work has included helping children with anxiety, behavioral issues, as well as adults with addiction and dual diagnosis. I also helped older adults with Alzheimer’s disease and seniors in the Asian American/immigrant community.

I’m an advocate of using art as a medium for nurturing the soul, healing the inner self, and for deep self-care. I have presented to mental health professionals and groups about how to use art as a therapeutic tool and held workshops on using art for self-care and stress. I have also been actively making art on my own time and have exhibited my work in NYC.

Hi, I’m Julia!

I’m a Board Certified and Licensed Art Therapist (ATR-BC, LCAT), avid daydreamer, and seeker of creative inspiration and adventure through my Latvian heritage and travel abroad.

I hold a Master of Professional Studies in Art Therapy from the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where I went on to work at a long-standing creative arts therapy private practice and serve as a board member of the New York Art Therapy Association. I have also co-curated multiple art therapy exhibitions and presented art-based workshops at mental health conferences in the U.S and abroad. In 2019, I was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to conduct art therapy research in Latvia, where I currently reside.

I’m all about exploring professional identity. My favorite part of helping art therapists and to-be art therapists is navigating where they are and where they want to be in their career. I believe that with the right support, there is no limit to reaching the ideal vision of what being an art therapist means to you.

And inside my 1:1 career consultation, I’ll show how you can conquer the fear of uncertainty when pursuing your own thing, build professional confidence, and realize your next career steps.
